Enterprise Plantation

Enterprise Plantation, established in 1835 and located near Jeanerette, Louisiana, is a historic site encompassing 1,650 acres of land, including the plantation house and several other historic buildings. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1975. Originally built by Simeon Patout, a French immigrant, the plantation initially aimed to cultivate grapes but shifted to sugar production due to unsuitable conditions. The Patout family has maintained ownership and continues to operate the sugar farm, known as M.A. Patout & Son, Ltd., making it a significant site for those interested in Louisiana's agricultural history and heritage.
