The Lowell

The Lowell is a historic triple decker apartment house located at 33 Lexington Avenue in Cambridge, Massachusetts, built in 1900 by architect John Hasty. This Colonial Revival structure is notable for its unique architectural features, including a swan's neck pediment and Doric pilasters, as well as its side porches that enhance its horizontal appearance. It stands out as one of the few multiunit buildings in the Brattle Street area, which was influenced by local residents' opposition to electrified trolleys. The Lowell was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1983, making it a significant site for both tourists and researchers interested in architectural history and urban development.
