Cherry Grove (Woodbine, Maryland)

Cherry Grove is a historic home and former forced-labor farm located in Woodbine, Maryland, known for its connection to the Warfield family. Built by Captain Benjamin Warfield in the late 18th century, the property features a variety of historic structures, including a log barn from 1798 and a frame wagon shed from the 19th century. The site also includes the J.P. Tarenz log house, originally built for enslaved individuals, which was relocated after the Civil War. Visitors can explore the scenic grounds, which are set on a 338-acre property that was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2007. The family cemetery on-site contains the remains of Edwin Warfield, Maryland's 45th Governor.
