Freeway Phantom murders and MPD investigation

Between April 1971 and October 1972 six girls and young women aged roughly 10 to 18 were abducted and found murdered in Washington, D.C.; the unknown perpetrator was nicknamed the 'Freeway Phantom.' The bodies were discovered near or alongside major roadways in Southeast and Northeast D.C., prompting an extensive Metropolitan Police Department homicide investigation. The case remains officially unsolved and continues to receive periodic media and law-enforcement attention.
