Natural Capital Center

The Natural Capital Center, also known as the Ecotrust Building, is a pioneering green building located in Portland, Oregon. Completed in 2001, it was the first historic redevelopment in the U.S. to earn a gold-level LEED certification. Originally built in 1895 as a warehouse, the structure has a rich history, having served various purposes over the decades, including a freight terminal. The center now houses a diverse mix of tenants focused on sustainability, including Patagonia and Hot Lips Pizza. Notable for its eco-friendly features, the building emphasizes energy conservation and the reuse of materials, making it a significant landmark in urban renewal and ecological economics. It has inspired similar projects, such as the Green Exchange in Chicago.
