Mount Tabor - an extinct city volcano

Mount Tabor Park sits on an extinct cinder cone volcano that is part of the Boring Lava Field within Portland city limits. The hill is composed of basaltic volcanic deposits and includes visible rock outcrops and the remains of the crater rim. Geologic studies date the Boring Lava Field eruptions in the Portland area to Pleistocene ages, with Mount Tabor formed during that volcanic activity.
