Leichhardt Town Hall

Leichhardt Town Hall, located at 107 Norton Street in Leichhardt, a suburb of Sydney, Australia, is a historic civic building constructed in 1888 in the Victorian Italianate style by architects Drake and Walcott. Originally serving as the seat of the Leichhardt Municipal Council until 2016, it now functions as part of the Inner West Council. The hall is notable for its architectural significance and rich history, including its origins as a former inn that was deemed inadequate for municipal purposes. The foundation stone was laid in January 1888, and the building was officially opened in September of the same year. A clock was added to the tower in 1897 to commemorate Queen Victoria's 60-year reign. The Town Hall is listed on the local government heritage database, making it an interesting site for tourists and researchers alike.
