Sutro Baths ruins at Lands End

Adolph Sutro opened the Sutro Baths in 1896 as a large privately operated indoor saltwater bathing complex with multiple pools and promenades. The glass-and-wood structure was damaged by fire in 1966 and subsequently demolished, leaving concrete ruins and foundations. The remains and interpretive signs are located at the Lands End / Sutro Historic District overlooking Ocean Beach and the Golden Gate, where visitors can view the foundations and the site of the former pools.
