The Driskill Hotel, Romanesque Revival landmark

Opened in 1886 and located at 604 Brazos St, the Driskill Hotel was built by Col. Jesse Driskill and is one of the oldest continuously operating hotels in Texas. Its Romanesque Revival and Italianate architectural details, ornate lobby, and grand staircase have been preserved as distinctive features. The hotel occupies a prominent position on Congress Avenue and is frequently cited in histories of Austin's built environment.
