Gay Liberation Monument (George Segal)

The Gay Liberation Monument is an outdoor sculpture by George Segal installed in Christopher Park in 1992. The installation features life-size cast-bronze figures and was dedicated as New York City’s first outdoor monument honoring LGBTQ people and the Stonewall uprising. The sculpture sits adjacent to the Stonewall Inn and contributes to the area’s designation and interpretation as a site of LGBTQ historical significance.
