Teddy's Tavern

Teddy's Tavern, originally known as the Blue Hen Garage, is a historic tavern located in Ellendale, Delaware. Built around 1923, it began as a service station for travelers on the Du Pont Highway and was transformed into a tavern in 1937. The building showcases a unique Mission/Spanish Revival architectural style, featuring a polychrome brick exterior and a distinctive flat-roofed porch supported by conical columns. Inside, visitors can explore dining areas and a variety of service rooms. As one of the few remaining pre-1940 roadside taverns in Delaware, it offers a glimpse into the region's history and was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1991, making it a noteworthy stop for tourists and researchers alike.
