Waugh Drive Bridge bat colony

The Waugh Drive Bridge over Buffalo Bayou hosts a large seasonal colony of Mexican free‑tailed bats that roost in the bridge's crevices. The bats emerge at dusk from spring through fall, drawing observers and occasional scientific study. The colony is one of Houston's most accessible urban bat roosts and is located within Buffalo Bayou Park near downtown Houston.
