The Menil Collection (founded by John and Dominique de Menil)

The Menil Collection was established by patrons John and Dominique de Menil to house their private art collection and opened in 1987. The museum building in Houston's Montrose was designed by architect Renzo Piano. The collection is noted for Surrealist, modern, and Byzantine works and remains a major cultural institution in the city.
