Stern House

The Stern House, built in 1877 in Jerusalem's Mamilla neighborhood, is a historic building that once hosted Theodor Herzl during his pivotal visit in 1898. Originally constructed for the Yehuda Stern family, the house has been preserved and reconstructed after facing demolition threats during urban development in the late 20th century. Today, it serves as the flagship store for the Steimatzky bookstore chain, featuring an outdoor café and a small museum dedicated to Herzl's visit and the bookstore's history. Visitors can explore exhibits including photographs of Herzl and artifacts related to the bookstore's past in the region.
