Mission Control support for the first Space Shuttle flight (STS-1)

NASA's Mission Control at Johnson Space Center served as the flight control center for STS-1, the first orbital flight of the Space Shuttle Columbia in April 1981. JSC flight controllers supervised ascent, on-orbit operations, and reentry for the STS program throughout the shuttle era. The Mission Control Center continued to manage mission operations for subsequent Shuttle flights and later ISS missions.
