Bakkehuset (Vedbæk)

Bakkehuset is a historic former country house located in Vedbæk, Rudersdal Municipality, Denmark. Originally part of the Enrum estate, it was acquired in 1811 by Lauritz Nicolai Hvidt, who used it as a summer residence for over 50 years, even constructing a pier that welcomed Denmark's first steamship, Calodonia. The house underwent significant changes in 1915 when broker Johan Levin replaced it with a new design by Carl Brummer. After several ownership changes, it was sold to Søllerød Municipality in 1980 and transformed into an activity center for senior citizens. This charming building offers a glimpse into Denmark's rich history and architectural evolution, making it an interesting stop for tourists and researchers alike.
