Universal Lodge No. 14

Universal Lodge No. 14 is a historic building in Annapolis, Maryland, originally constructed around 1880 and expanded in the 1950s. This two-story structure features a distinctive brick veneer facade and stucco gable. It was recognized for its historical significance by being listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2008. The lodge, founded in 1865 by African American employees of the U.S. Naval Academy, has served as a meeting hall since the 1940s after significant renovations. In 2019, a $200,000 grant was awarded for exterior repairs, ensuring the preservation of this important cultural landmark.
