Moira Furnace

Moira Furnace is a well-preserved 19th-century iron-making blast furnace located in Moira, Leicestershire, along the Ashby-de-la-Zouch Canal. Built in 1804 by the Earl of Moira, it represents a significant industrial monument from the early Industrial Revolution. The furnace, which operated intermittently until 1811, was designed for smelting iron using local resources but faced numerous operational challenges. Today, it serves as a museum showcasing the region's industrial heritage, featuring lime kilns and craft workshops. The site is also known for its paranormal activity, attracting visitors interested in ghost hunting events.
