Residencia Ermelindo Salazar

The Residencia Ermelindo Salazar is a historic house located in Ponce, Puerto Rico, built in 1870 for Ermelindo Salazar, a notable businessman and mayor. Situated in the Ponce Historic Zone, it now serves as the Centro Cultural de Ponce, hosting educational and cultural activities, including art exhibits. The building showcases a blend of Colonial Spanish and Ponce Creole architecture, featuring a courtyard surrounded by a gallery. Notably, it was the first home in Ponce to have a private telephone line, connecting the family residence to their commercial offices at the port. The house has a rich history, having previously housed the Museum of Puerto Rican Music and the Museo de Arte de Ponce.
