Royal Muskoka Hotel

The Royal Muskoka Hotel, a luxurious summer resort from 1901 to 1952, was located on Lake Rosseau in Ontario's Muskoka region. Built by the Muskoka Lakes Navigation Company, it became a premier destination for the elite of Canadian and American society, featuring Venetian architecture, panoramic views, and amenities like a golf course and tennis courts. The hotel thrived until the Great Depression, saw a brief revival during World War II, but ultimately succumbed to a devastating fire in 1952. Today, the site is known as Royal Muskoka Island, with remnants of its storied past attracting tourists and researchers alike.
