Alki Beach Park shell middens

Alki Point at Alki Beach Park preserves archaeological evidence of long-term Indigenous use, including shell midden deposits created by Coast Salish people. Archaeological surveys and historical records document these middens and the area's use for resource gathering prior to Euro-American settlement. The site is also where the Denny Party landed in 1851, an event recorded in Seattle's settlement history.
