Tomlinson Hall catacombs beneath Indianapolis City Market

Tomlinson Hall opened in 1886 adjacent to the Indianapolis City Market. A 1958 fire destroyed the hall aboveground, leaving the vaulted brick foundations and subterranean passageways commonly referred to as the Tomlinson Hall catacombs beneath the market. The remnants of these underground spaces are documented in local historic records and are directly beneath the City Market building footprint.
