Edward Waters University (Florida's oldest HBCU)

Edward Waters University was founded in 1866 by leaders of the African Methodist Episcopal Church and is recognized as the oldest historically Black college or university (HBCU) in Florida. The institution has educated generations of African American students in Jacksonville and offers undergraduate and graduate degree programs. Its main campus is located at the address below and remains an active center of Black higher education in the city.
