Martin Scorsese's The Departed (2006) used the John Adams Courthouse (the Suffolk County Courthouse building) for courtroom and exterior scenes. The courthouse at 1 Pemberton Square appears in the film's legal sequences; production notes and location guides list the courthouse among Boston sites used during principal photography. The building's interior and exterior were used to lend authenticity to the movie's courthouse scenes.
