Lakihegy Tower

The Lakihegy Tower, standing at 314 meters, is a historic radio mast located in Szigetszentmiklós-Lakihegy, Hungary. Built in 1933, it was one of the tallest structures in Europe at the time, designed to provide nationwide broadcast coverage with a powerful 120 kW transmitter. Although it was destroyed during World War II, it was rebuilt in 1946 and later upgraded to a 300 kW transmitter in 1968. After being replaced as the primary transmitter in 1977, the tower faced demolition threats but was saved and is now a protected industrial monument. Currently, it serves for power-distribution control data transmission. The tower is notable not only for its height but also for its unique diamond-shaped design, which minimizes radio wave fading, making it an interesting site for both tourists and researchers interested in telecommunications history.
