Ferry House (Ebey's Landing)

The Ferry House, built in 1860 by Winfield Scott Ebey, is one of Washington's oldest residential buildings and served as an inn known as The Ebey Inn. Located strategically across Admiralty Inlet from Port Townsend, it became a vital stop for travelers and sailors, offering accommodations, a post office, and a tavern. The house is constructed from salvaged wood from Ebey's brother's cabins and features Greek Revival elements. Today, it is part of the Ebey's Landing National Historical Reserve, providing insight into early Territorial history. Although the house remains locked, its grounds are open to the public, and it has been featured in film and preservation initiatives, highlighting its historical significance.
