Bailey House Museum

The Bailey House Museum, located in Wailuku, Maui, is a historic site that showcases Hawaiian history and art. Built in 1833, it was originally a mission and later became a seminary. The museum features diverse exhibits, including pre-European contact artifacts, landscape paintings by Edward Bailey, and a unique wooden statue of the demi-god Kamapua'a. Visitors can explore the Monarchy Room, which highlights Hawaii's royal history, and the Koa Room, showcasing exquisite koa wood furnishings. The museum grounds also feature native Hawaiian plants and historical artifacts like Duke Kahanamoku's surfboard and a traditional outrigger canoe. Open Monday to Saturday, the museum offers a glimpse into Maui's rich cultural heritage.
