Julia Ideson Building (Houston Public Library)

The Julia Ideson Building opened in 1926 and is named for Julia Bedford Ideson, who served as Houston's first head librarian from 1904 to 1941. The building originally housed the city's central library and now contains Houston history and genealogy collections. It remains an architectural landmark in downtown Houston and is associated with Ideson's role in building the city's public library system.
