Egyptian Building

The Egyptian Building, completed in 1845, is a historic college building located in Richmond, Virginia, and is recognized as one of the finest examples of Egyptian Revival architecture in the United States. Originally serving as the Medical Department of Hampden-Sydney College, it later became the Medical College of Virginia and is now part of Virginia Commonwealth University. The building features unique architectural elements such as battered walls, monumental columns, and intricate designs inspired by ancient Egyptian motifs. It has been continuously used for medical education and was designated a National Historic Landmark in 1971.
