Louviers (Wilmington, Delaware)

Louviers, also known as Upper Louviers, was a historic home in Wilmington, Delaware, originally built in 1833. It served as the residence of Rear Admiral Samuel Francis Du Pont from 1837 to 1865 and featured Greek Revival architectural elements. Although the main house has been demolished, visitors can still explore the remaining gate houses and a historic iron bridge from 1877, which are part of the site now incorporated into the DuPont Country Club. Louviers was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1971, making it a notable point of interest for history enthusiasts.
