Old Bakery and Emporium

Constructed in 1876, the Old Bakery and Emporium is a 19th-century limestone commercial building in downtown Austin that later became the focus of a preservation effort. It is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and has housed museum exhibits, artisan shops, and nonprofit offices. The building’s restoration during the 1970s is credited with helping to spur broader historic preservation initiatives in Austin.
