Kamuzu Palace

Kamuzu Palace, located in Lilongwe, Malawi, is the official residence of the President and a significant symbol of the nation's post-independence history. Built in 1975 by Hastings Kamuzu Banda in a Persian-inspired architectural style, the palace spans 200 acres and includes various facilities. Although Banda occupied it briefly, subsequent leaders have had mixed feelings about its opulence. In the 2010s, it was renamed to honor Banda, reflecting its historical importance. Recent events have raised concerns about its condition following allegations of vandalism after the 2025 elections, highlighting ongoing debates about governance and national heritage.
