Embassy Building No. 10

Embassy Building No. 10, located at 3149 16th Street NW in Washington, D.C., is a historic Renaissance Revival structure designed by George Oakley Totten Jr. and built in 1929-1930. Originally intended to serve as a foreign embassy, it never fulfilled that purpose and instead housed the District's municipal parks department for nearly seventy years. The building, which showcases unique architectural features adapted to its wedge-shaped lot, was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1986. Although it has undergone changes over the years, including a recent proposal for an auditorium addition, it remains a notable landmark in the Columbia Heights neighborhood, reflecting the area's rich history and urban development.
