Legion of Honor art museum

The Legion of Honor opened in 1924 as a museum and memorial, modeled after the French Palais de la Légion d'Honneur and gifted to the city by Alma de Bretteville Spreckels. It is part of the Fine Arts Museums of San Francisco and holds European paintings, sculpture, and ancient art including casts of Rodin’s works. The museum sits on a hill with views of the Golden Gate and the Presidio and regularly mounts special exhibitions and public programs.
