Channel 9 TV Tower

The Channel 9 TV Tower, also known as the Willoughby Tower, was an iconic steel lattice structure in Sydney, completed in 1965. Standing at 233 meters, it was the tallest free-standing lattice tower in Australia and held the title of the tallest structure in Sydney until 1981. Located in the suburb of Willoughby, it served as the broadcast tower for TCN 9, the flagship station of the Nine Network. The tower was constructed using 347 tons of steel and featured a distinctive square cross-section. After TCN 9 relocated in 2021, the tower was demolished, marking the end of an era for this significant landmark.
