Karlsschule Stuttgart

Karlsschule Stuttgart, originally founded in 1770 as a military orphanage by Duke Karl Eugen of Württemberg, evolved into a prestigious military academy by 1773. It aimed to elevate the duke's status and was later granted university status in 1781. Notable alumni include the famous poet Friedrich Schiller, who faced challenges during his early years but found his passion for poetry while studying medicine. The academy was disbanded in 1794 after the duke's death, and its building was destroyed during World War II. Today, the site remains a point of interest for those exploring the history of education and military training in Germany.
