East Side Airline Terminal

The East Side Airline Terminal, opened in 1953 in Midtown Manhattan, served as a key hub for passengers traveling to JFK, LaGuardia, and Newark airports via bus. This terminal was strategically located near the Queens–Midtown Tunnel, allowing for efficient transport and reducing traffic congestion. Designed by architect John B. Peterkin, it featured a rotunda with airline ticket counters and bus gates, accommodating both domestic and international airlines. Although bus operations ceased in 1984, the terminal's historical significance remains, as it was a vital part of New York City's air travel infrastructure until its redevelopment into a residential building in 1985.
