Stephen Phillips House

The Stephen Phillips House, located in the McIntire Historic District of Salem, Massachusetts, is a historic house and museum designed by Samuel McIntyre. Originally built by Elias Hasket Derby, a prominent sea trader, the estate has a rich history involving his daughter Elizabeth and her husband Captain Nathaniel West. After a series of inheritances and renovations, including the relocation of four rooms to its current site, the house was purchased by Stephen W. Phillips in 1911, who filled it with family furnishings from five generations. Today, the house is preserved as a museum by Historic New England, showcasing an eclectic collection that reflects the Phillips family's extensive travels, and is open for public tours, making it a fascinating destination for tourists and researchers alike.
