Austin Central Library rooftop and public design

Opened in 2017, the Austin Central Library at 710 W César Chávez St is a seven-story public library that replaced the previous downtown main branch. The building includes a rooftop garden and native-plant landscaping, a public reading porch with views of Lady Bird Lake, and expanded Texana and genealogy collections. Its multi-level public spaces and visible stacks were designed to emphasize community use and accessibility.
