USS Constitution ('Old Ironsides') - Charlestown Navy Yard

USS Constitution, launched in 1797 and berthed in the Charlestown Navy Yard, earned the nickname 'Old Ironsides' after defeating HMS Guerriere during the War of 1812 when British cannonballs were reported to bounce off her hull. The ship remains a commissioned U.S. Navy vessel and is on public display alongside the USS Constitution Museum, which interprets her construction, operational history, and role in early American naval actions. The vessel's 1812 victories are among the best-documented single-ship actions of the era.
