Upper and Lower Falls on Onion Creek

McKinney Falls State Park contains two named waterfalls, Upper Falls and Lower Falls, formed where Onion Creek flows over limestone ledges. The falls vary with rainfall and are most prominent after wet weather; the Lower Falls is a popular swimming and wading spot when flows are low. Park staff periodically close the falls and creek access after heavy rains because Onion Creek can rise rapidly and create dangerous conditions.
