Bryan Building

The Bryan Building, also known as the Shepherd Building and DeSoto Hotel, is a historic site located at 220-230 Brickell Avenue in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Built in the early 20th century after a devastating fire, it is notable for its unique two-story masonry vernacular architecture featuring brick detailing, which is rare in the region. The building served various purposes over the years, including housing the Post Office and multiple hotels, and has been a significant part of Fort Lauderdale's original downtown commercial center. It was added to the U.S. National Register of Historic Places in 1997 and underwent a historically appropriate renovation in 1998, preserving its legacy as the least altered building of its era in the area.
