Kingsley Plantation slave burials (Fort George Island)

Kingsley Plantation, part of Timucuan National Preserve on Fort George Island, contains a plantation house and preserved slave quarters where archaeological investigations have documented burial features and human remains associated with enslaved people who lived and worked on the plantation. The National Park Service interprets the site’s archaeology and history, including findings from limited excavations and surveys that identified graves and associated artifacts. The site is used to teach about plantation life and the history of slavery in northeast Florida.
