Teurastamo, meaning 'abattoir' in Finnish, is a vibrant public space in Helsinki's Hermanni district, transformed from a former slaughterhouse into a cultural hub since its opening to the public in 2012. Located near the Kalasatama area, it features a variety of restaurants, bars, and urban events, showcasing local culinary delights from establishments like Restaurant Kellohalli and Roslund. The area also offers communal amenities such as a barbecue yard, bicycle repair point, and sauna for rent, along with free events like farmers markets and picnics. In a notable addition, the LGBTQ nightclub DTM reopened here in autumn 2023, enhancing Teurastamo's appeal as a lively destination for both tourists and locals.
