George Coulter House

The George Coulter House, also known as Mapleton, is a historic site located in Florence, Alabama, built around 1827 by George Coulter, a notable planter and soldier. This Federal-style house served as a command post for Union Colonel John Marshall Harlan during the Civil War, thanks to its strategic hillside location. The house features Adamesque woodwork and has undergone renovations, including the addition of a medical office wing in the 1940s.
