Malmesbury House

Malmesbury House is a historic Grade I listed building located in the cathedral close of Salisbury, England. Built in 1416, it replaced an earlier structure and was initially known as Copt Hall. The house features architectural additions from the Queen Anne period and is marked by a plaque honoring three Protestant martyrs executed in 1556. Notably, Charles II resided here during the Restoration era, escaping the plague in London. The house is named after James Harris, the Earl of Malmesbury, who owned it in the late 18th century, and it remains a significant part of Salisbury's rich historical landscape.
