5 High Petergate

5 High Petergate is a historic Grade II* listed building located in the heart of York, England. Originally constructed around 1600 as a timber-framed structure, it was rebuilt in brick around 1700, maintaining its three-storey design along with attics and a cellar. The building features a limewashed brick front topped with a cornice and a dated drainpipe head from 1763. Visitors can admire the preserved early plasterwork, a main staircase from the early 19th century, and a late 18th-century rear staircase. The first-floor front room is elegantly panelled with Ionic pilasters flanking the fireplace, making it a fascinating site for both tourists and researchers interested in architectural history.
