Whiting Homestead

The Whiting Homestead, located at 291 North Main Street in West Hartford, Connecticut, is a historic house built around 1790, showcasing late colonial architecture. This 2+1⁄2-story wood-frame structure features a large central chimney, a center entrance framed by an ornate architrave, and original interior elements such as paneling and a Federal style fireplace. The house, which has remained in the Whiting family lineage until 1920, is one of the few surviving 18th-century homes in West Hartford and was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1987, making it a significant site for both tourists and researchers interested in early American architecture and history.
