Spitzen Gebel

Spitzen Gebel is a historic building in the heart of Bremen, Germany, dating back to 1400 and rebuilt in the Gothic style in 1590. As the oldest town house in Bremen, it has served various purposes over the centuries, including a wine house and a tavern. Notably, it became known as the Klavierträgerhaus when it housed a piano movers' office in 1913. The building features distinctive pointed gables and bay windows, and after suffering damage during World War II, it was restored by 1950. Today, it is a listed heritage site, and visitors can enjoy a unique tradition of taking a 'Sluk ut de Lamp'-a swig of schnapps from an old lamp, a practice that dates back to the piano movers. A bronze sculpture outside commemorates its history, making it a fascinating stop for tourists and researchers alike.
