Pier A (Pier A Harbor House)

Constructed 1886–1888 at the southern tip of Manhattan, Pier A originally housed the Harbor Master's office and municipal Department of Docks facilities and is one of the city's surviving 19th-century piers. The granite-and-brick structure is a designated New York City landmark and was rehabilitated and reopened in the 2010s as Pier A Harbor House, accommodating dining and public events. Its preservation and adaptive reuse reflect efforts to retain historic waterfront infrastructure in Lower Manhattan.
